What is the DayOne Waterbag?

The DayOne Waterbag is a 10-liter (2.5 gallon) family-sized water purification backpack with integrated filter. The Waterbag provides all four of the functions needed to treat and safely store drinking water, including: (1) Collection, (2) Transport, (3) Treatment, and (4) Hygienic storage. The DayOne Waterbag is designed specifically with the P&G™ Purifier of Water packets.

How does the DayOne Waterbag treat water?

The DayOne Waterbag incorporates a multi-treatment process including the P&G™ Purifier of Water packets (flocculation / disinfection packets) and an in-line filter. Learn more on our Waterbag Instructions Page.

How long does it take to purify the water?

Total treatment time is 30 minutes.

How much water can I treat in the DayOne Waterbag? Can it be reused?

The Waterbag treats 10-liters (2.5 gallons) of water with each use.  Yes, the DayOne Waterbag is reusable.  Each DayOne Waterbag comes with 60 P&G™ Purifier of Water packets (a total of 600 liters).

What does the Waterbag remove from the water?

The DayOne Waterbag in combination with the P&G™ packet treatment are robust in removing turbidity, cysts (>3 logs), viruses (>4 logs), bacteria (>6 logs) and arsenic from contaminated water sources such as creeks, rivers, lakes, and ponds.  The removals meet the US Environmental Protection Agency and World Health Organizations emergency drinking water guidelines.

Does the DayOne Waterbag have any certifications?

The DayOne Waterbag method of use with the P&G™ Purifier of Water packets is approved by the US Environmental Protection Agency as as an alternate direction of use with the P&G™ packet.

What is the shelf-life of the DayOne Waterbag?

The DayOne Waterbag can be stored at room temperature for 10 years from date of manufacture. P&G™ Purifier of Water can be stored for 3 years from date of manufacture.

Can the DayOne Waterbag remove salt?

No. The DayOne Waterbag is not a desalination system. Use the DayOne Waterbag to treat water from freshwater sources only.

P&G™ Packets

What is the P&G™ Purifier of Water product?

P&G™ Purifier of Water product is a powdered water clarification and disinfectant that comes in small, 4-gram packets. Using some of the same ingredients used in municipal water systems, P&G™ Purifier of Water is engineered to be a mini-water treatment plant in a packet.

What does it remove?

The product removes dirt, cysts, and pollutants, and kills bacteria and viruses in contaminated water. By removing the dirt and sediment through a flocculation process, P&G™ Purifier of Water gives a visible signal that water is clean and ready to drink.

How is the P&G™ Purifier of Water used?

P&G™ Purifier of Water packets are used with the DayOne Waterbag supplied by DayOne Response™, or by buckets/stirring spoon/filter cloth (sold separately).

What is in the packet?

Each P&G™ packet contains iron sulfate, calcium hypochlorite, a buffer to maintain pH and a polymer to promote coagulation. It is approved for use by the Environmental Protection Agency.

What is the shelf-life?

Each P&G™ Purifier of Water packet is stable for 3 years from date of manufacture.

Who manufacturers the P&G™ packet?
